Tripsitta of the Month – Interview with babysitter Yusra from Rome

This month we sat down with our lovely Yusra, a dedicated, an experienced and passionate babysitter based in beautiful Rome, Italy to learn more about her tips & tricks to parents and approach to childcare. We are so lucky to have her on our team! To learn more about Yusra’s experience and background, read her Tripsitta profile here. And to book her, click here 🙂 What inspired you to become a babysitter, and how has that motivation shaped your approach to childcare? I’ve always loved kids and when I started working in childcare I had confirmation that I also love to work with them! I think I’ve become the adult that I needed when I was a child, since I remember really well how I used to feel. I think that’s the reason why I usually build a special connection with children, despite the fact that each one has a different personality. How do you create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for the kids you care for? I’m a very creative person and kids love to play with imagination, I’ve learned a lot of fun activities both creative and physical for every age range thanks to my 9 years of experience in childcare, and I also work very intuitively by following the state of the child (if he’s tired, energetic, sad, happy etc.) and giving them ideas that can match their energy! Can you share a memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had while babysitting? I think there are a lot of small achievements that feel rewarding, especially when it’s your first time babysitting them: for example a child who didn’t like to eat vegetables, after trying my “special recipe” learned that they can be tasty and fun to eat; two sisters who always had trouble sleeping fell asleep easily after our “girls sleepover”, and a girl who didn’t like to go out had a picnic day at the park together, played, explored nature, layed in the grass listening to music, run, had some ice cream and at the end we realized we’ve been out for four hours and had so much fun! Two twins that i looked after for 5 years: one of them that was incredibly sweet was experiencing strong anger issues since the age of 2 and used to stutter a lot, we did a long work of managing emotions, gave him the time and attention everytime he spoke. Turns out it was all because he wasn’t feeling heard, since the other twin was the dominant one. Today at the age of six he speaks perfetcly, he developed a super funny personality and he knows how to manage his emotions better than kids over his age. I call this a big win. Do you have a favorite location or city where you’ve worked as a sitter? What made it stand out? Most of my experiences were in Rome, but I look forward to extend to other cities and mix my passion for travelling with my passion for childcare! What advice would you offer to parents who are traveling with children for the first time? Keep them entertained, try to create a comfortable situation for them to sleep during the flight, always keep headphones with you since some children cry for ear pain due to the pressure, bring some food since they might not want to eat what the airline provides! Read our blog post, Childcare on Vacation – Breaking Down Babysitting Myths or  Toddler Travel Hacks for Long – Haul Flights for more tips on traveling with children! What special qualities or skills do you have that allows you to connect with the children you care for? I tend to treat them like little adults by making them feel heard, by teaching them how to do things instead of doing things for them and giving them time and space to create, express and manage feelings, and have fun safely. I’m a big listener and pay attention to details, I also have a very gentle approach. I think this is the reason why they get attached to me, and also because they feel if someone truly cares and enjoys spending time with them Can you share a bit about your professional life outside of Tripsitta or any personal hobbies/interests that you feel enhance your skills as a babysitter? As I said in another answer before, I’ve worked in childcare for 9 years, doing summercamps and looking after groups of 20+ children, managing everyday activities and trips to the beach, pool and parks, I’ve worked in a playroom that provided creative activities, reading stories and many fun games, i’ve also worked in an afterschool helping them doing their homework and I’ve been babysitting a family of three kids (twins: a boy and a girl, with their older brother) for 5 years before knowing Tripsitta. My personal interests are singing, traveling, making new experiences and cooking How do you prepare yourself before each Tripsitta booking? I always reach out to families and ask about their kids interests, favourite games, activities and movies. I try to get to know the child a little bit before coming over! This way we already know his favorite ways of spending time! How has your experience working with Tripsitta been? Amazing, I love the fact that they care a lot about the families and also protect us a lot! For example by making sure we have a ride if we babysit in the evening and such thoughtful details that make you feel safe! They’re also super available everytime you need to ask questions so I feel like they’re super involved even though they have so many babysitters and bookings to manage! Thank you for your time and hard work Yusra, we appreciate you! Book Yusra for your next vacation in Rome here.

Tripsitta of the Month – Interview with our lovely Oreoluwa

To celebrate Oreoluwa as our first Tripsitta of the Month in 2025, we are exploring her journey in childcare through an in-depth interview highlighting her passions, background and expertise! Oreoluwa is one of our most loved, requested, and active babysitters in Paris. She consistently receives glowing reviews from parents worldwide and is always eager to connect with new families. To celebrate Oreoluwa and her achievement as our Tripsitta of the Month, we sat down with her to learn more about her journey in childcare, her passions, motivations, and her valuable tips and tricks for a successful babysitting experience. What inspired you to become a babysitter, and how has that motivation shaped your approach to childcare? My inspiration for becoming a babysitter stems from my love for children, and my belief in top-notch caregiving. Growing up in a family-oriented environment, I was the most trusted family member to take care of my brother’s children. How do you create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for the kids you care for? Creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment for kids starts with understanding their personal interests, needs, and personalities. This helps me create indoor or outdoor activities. However, there is always new tricks rolled up my sleeves, such as arts and crafts, painting, red-yellow-green lights, acting Dressup, and airplane among other fun games, always age appropriate for the children I care for. To ensure safety, I am vigilant about maintaining a secure environment, for example by noticing and removing any sharp objects, state clear boundaries as well as my proactive mother instinct to act fast. Can you share a memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had while babysitting? One of the most memorable and rewarding experiences I have had while babysitting was with a 2 year old girl. The parents were very nervous because they have not used a babysitter service before. However, they were so sure that their daughter would cry if they leave her with me. Immediately as I saw her, I established and activated my childlike self, and started engaging her with numerous games and plays. This made her feel comfortable around me before her parents left. What made it memorable for me was, when the parents were leaving, she was so attached to me, she just waved at them saying “bye” because she was already enjoying my company. She was enjoying our moments so much she didn’t even remember to cry! It was incredibly fulfilling and adorable. Do you have a favorite location or city where you’ve worked as a sitter? What made it stand out? One of my favorite locations I worked as a sitter was in Saint Jean de Luz, a small city in Bayonne in the South of France. I enjoyed the VIP coach train going there and the vacation mansion the family booked was magnificent. The pool, the nature walks with the kids, the beach outing with the kids was quite different from my city life in Paris. The south of France is beautiful, I really enjoyed the the outdoor views. We did a lot of games in the city, mostly outdoor, such as visiting the nature animal park. It made the experience so fun and unforgettable for myself and the kids. If you wish to book Oreoluwa as your next babysitter in Paris or check out her profile, click here. What advice would you offer to parents who are traveling with children for the first time? A good plan always helps the kids, so I would say engage them and talk to them about every activity and involvement of a third-party (sitter) in your trip, as well as being flexible with time and change of food for the kids, always considering your location and country. What special qualities or skills do you have that allows you to connect with the children you care for? I belive my energetic and fun-loving personality, my patience and adaptability, and also, my love for learning new languages from the kids! Can you share a bit about your professional life outside of Tripsitta or any personal hobbies/interests that you feel enhance your skills as a babysitter? I have a background in education and I also teach English at the university. Dealing with children in education has helped my level of patience. I truly strengthened my empathy working in customer service years ago. My natural love for healthcare has helped enhance my experience in unexpected situations and engaging children whilst looking out for their safety. My personal hobby is great communication skills and building solid relationships. How do you prepare yourself before each Tripsitta booking? Basically, I engage the parents before my booking to build assurance and trust, making sure they are confident to let go of any doubts. I also memorize the names of the kids, so when I get to the job I just act like I know the child’s name already. It helps to build the first-contact bond with the kids. *How has your experience working with Tripsitta been? * Working with Tripsitta has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The platform provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with families from diverse countries backgrounds and offer meaningful childcare support. One of the things I value most is the flexibility and variety of experiences it gives with each family, learning from their culture and languages has been exciting. Tripsitta’s support and resources have also been invaluable in ensuring I can focus on providing the best care possible. Overall, my time with Tripsitta has not only strengthened my childcare skills but also reinforced my passion for working with children and helping families feel at ease during their travels. We are looking forward to introduce you to many more of our lovely babysitters from all over Europe over the next few months!

Tripsitta Interview with our Holiday Nanny Ana

Meet Ana, one of our first Tripsittas! With 15+ years of experience, she’s cared for children across Europe—from Swiss mountains to Mediterranean yachts. Ana has been a part of Tripsitta since 2018, making her one of our very first babysitters! With over 15 years of professional childcare experience, she has traveled across Europe, caring for families in mountain retreats, seaside villas, and even luxury yachts. Passionate, adaptable, and endlessly energetic, Ana takes pride in creating a safe and loving environment for children. From sleep training to soothing teething babies, she’s done it all with a smile. Let’s dive into our conversation with Ana and learn more about her journey, experiences, and love for childcare!   1. What inspired you to become a babysitter, and how has that motivation shaped your approach to childcare? I’ve always loved being around kids, they make everything more fun! I have a lot of experience so it was a no-brainer to consider joining Tripsitta, where I knew I could combine my passion for working with children and my love for travel. Becoming a holiday nanny has been a dream come true because it allows me to explore new places while engaging with kids in such a meaningful way. I always bring my best energy and creativity to every job. The way I approach childcare is rooted in building trust—kids know I’m there to lead them through fun, but they also feel safe because they can rely on me to set clear boundaries when needed. That balance of fun and structure is what makes my approach effective. 2. How do you create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for the kids you care for? I make sure I’m always prepared with a variety of age-appropriate activities—coloring books, crafts, toys, and games. But it’s not just about what I bring; it’s about connecting with each child’s unique needs and interests. Some kids love crafts, others are more active, and some are more introverted and want quiet time. I always make sure to establish boundaries with kids right from the start, which sets the tone for mutual respect. Once we have that trust, I dive right into activities, showing them that I’m not just here to “watch” them but to actively engage in their fun. Creating that balance of friendship and authority makes them feel safe and supported while also encouraging their creativity and play. 3. Can you share a memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had while babysitting? I had the privilege of working on a luxury yacht, hopping between Ischia, Ponza, and Capri—such a breathtaking experience. I was looking after a sweet 7-month-old, who had never been sick before, and I noticed she had a fever one afternoon. As a caregiver, I trust my instincts, and I immediately took charge, cooling her down and administering her first dose of medicine. While everyone else was panicking, I stayed calm, which made the family feel incredibly grateful, especially since it was difficult to get a doctor to the boat. Watching her sleep peacefully after the medicine, knowing I helped her feel better, was so rewarding. It’s moments like these that reinforce my dedication to what I do—it’s not just about fun and games; it’s about providing care and being there in every moment, big or small.   4. Do you have a favorite location or city where you’ve worked as a sitter? What made it stand out? My favorite location to work in is actually Florence! I’ve lived here for 8 years, so I know the city like a local. I love helping families experience the best of Florence by giving them tips on where to eat authentic food, booking tickets, making reservations, and even translating menus. I’m also familiar with all the best parks and hidden gems around the city, so I always have a ton of ideas for fun, kid-friendly activities. Whether it’s visiting a local garden, exploring the city’s historic sites, or finding the best gelato spots, I enjoy creating memorable experiences for families while also giving them the chance to relax and enjoy their time here. 5. What advice would you offer to parents who are traveling with children for the first time? Traveling with kids can be both exhilarating and challenging, both mentally and physically draining. A good night’s sleep can really affect the next day’s success, so I always recommend bringing a blackout tent for their crib (or other means of making the room pitch black). It really helps with jet lag and adjusting to new time zones. Parents often overlook how crucial a child’s sleep is when they’re away from home, but it’s vital for everyone’s well-being. I’ve also learned from parents about all-natural melatonin gummies to help kids sleep through the night. Keeping a consistent sleep routine—especially on vacation—makes for a much smoother trip for the whole family. And, of course, don’t forget to carve out some time for yourselves. It’s essential to take breaks, recharge, and enjoy your vacation too! 6. What special qualities or skills do you have that allows you to connect with the children you care for? I believe my greatest strength is my ability to connect with kids on their level. I’m essentially a big kid myself! I have an innate ability to make any moment a game, whether it’s coloring, building a fort, or playing an imaginary adventure. I’m also very patient and gentle, which helps kids feel safe and heard. I take time to understand their individual needs, whether they need comfort, fun, or a mix of both. With infants, it’s all about providing that comfort, and with older kids, it’s about engaging their curiosity and sense of fun. It’s not just about being with them—it’s about truly engaging in their world. 7. Can you share a bit about your professional life outside of Tripsitta or any personal hobbies/interests that you feel enhance your skills as a babysitter? I’m a true lifelong learner, which definitely enhances my work with kids. I’m fascinated by

Tripsitta of the Month – Interview with Arianna from Tuscany

As we are winding down from a hectic summer, we sat down with our Tripsitta of the Month for October, our lovely Arianna based in a small town in the beautiful hills of Tuscany. Since Arianna joined our team of trusted babysitters this summer, she has been one of our most active and requested nannies in Tuscany, and the word has spread fast on her professionalism, last-minute availability and expertise and passion in what she does. Read the interview with Arianna below to learn more about her professional background, read some of her most rewarding experiences working with Tripsitta and learn some cool tips and tricks from our beloved Tripsitta of the Month! What inspired you to become a babysitter, and how has that motivation shaped your approach to childcare?I used to babysit my cousin when she was a little girl, and I absolutely loved spending time with her and playing together. When I later decided to become a babysitter, I thought of those moments and wanted to put the same effort and care into looking after all the children I babysit, to make sure they have the best time. How do you create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for the kids you care for?I try to adjust to their needs and plan some fun activities in advance, but of course, what the child wants always comes first. So even if I’ve prepared lots of things to do, if they want to do something else, I just follow along and try to understand why they enjoy that particular game. I ask them to explain what they love about it, and we explore it together. I also always check out the place where I’m babysitting to make sure it’s safe and free from potential dangers. Can you share a memorable or rewarding experience you’ve had while babysitting?Of course! I was in Lucca a few months ago, in the summer, and I had the best time with a 1.5-year-old girl from Australia. Her parents were attending a wedding and hired me for two days. They told me she might cry for a while when they left, and she did — but only a little, because I was able to connect with her right away. We played fun games that made her smile and laugh for hours. She was so sweet. Recently, her mom texted me to say that the little girl still remembers our time together in Italy and still plays with a toy I gave her. That was so rewarding to hear. Do you have a favorite location or city where you’ve worked as a sitter? What made it stand out?I definitely loved working in the Tuscan countryside because I could play outside safely with the children without worrying about cars. The air was cleaner, everything felt calmer, and it was a beautiful natural environment to spend time in with the kids. What advice would you offer to parents who are traveling with children for the first time?Changes in routine can be stressful for kids, but try not to worry if they don’t adjust right away. Cater to their needs, include them in your plans, and make sure the places you visit are child-friendly. You’ll have a wonderful time together. And hiring a babysitter can also be a great help! What special qualities or skills do you have that allow you to connect with the children you care for?I’m very empathetic, and I always try to understand children’s emotions by remembering how I used to feel at their age. I also play several musical instruments, which I often use in my work because kids love music. I speak a few foreign languages quite well, which helps me communicate better with both parents and children. I’m also patient, flexible, and caring. Can you share a bit about your professional life outside of Tripsitta or any personal hobbies/interests that enhance your skills as a babysitter?Through my previous jobs in public service, I’ve learned to manage stress and be patient. I also love music and singing, which I bring into my babysitting work. I’m an art student, so I try to share that creativity with the kids, and I also work in the tourism sector, which helps me improve my language and social skills. How do you prepare yourself before each Tripsitta booking?I always text the parents in advance to introduce myself and ask a few questions about their child or children. Then, before the booking, I make sure I have everything I need for the job — games, books, band-aids, and musical instruments. How has your experience working with Tripsitta been? It’s been really great! The platform works well and is easy to use. I appreciate that the Tripsitta team carefully selects the babysitters they work with, which helps parents feel more confident and trusting. The Tripsitta team is amazing — they’re always quick to solve any problems and do their best to help whenever you need anything.
